Pahkitew Island Reviews Ep. 3

Welcome Total Drama Fans to another review of Total Drama Pahkitew Island!

The episode starts with Jasmine and Samey foraging for food like the last episode, this time Jasmine starts a conversation about Samey being treated as a slave. Jasmine encourages Samey to stand up to her sister and cements themselves as friend. Shawn arrives to the greet Jasmine, Samey leaves the couple to themselves and the two chat about the zombies. The conversation was short before Shawn leaves to give his collection of food to his team. Back with the Confused Bears Shawn arrives with his score, Sugar digs in, Ella sings about fruit but Sugar silences her with a pear, Sky arrives with fresh water as Dave tries to praise her Ella sings again but Dave flatly declines, Shawn convinces Ella to sing to the opposing team to which she happily complies, and after a sigh of relief Sky offers to forage with Shawn tomorrow but Dave insisted that he would come too(just to be with Sky) much to Shawn's discomfort. We move to the Floating Salmon having a group picnic. Rodney praises Amy for the food when Samey hits her boiling point and stands up to her sister. On the side Jasmine tries to suggest a better time for this, while Topher comments as the scene plays out. Samey tells her team the truth and calls Amy a monster but in retaliation Amy plays the victim getting the team to side with her. As the frustrated Samey leaves Ella arrives to sing song for the before getting interrupted by Chris for the challenge.
Topher is the first to arrive to Chris showing his excitement for the upcoming challenge; Chris is noticeably getting annoyed by Topher. The teams arrive to the location one time skip later as Chris challenges them to grab as many surprise balloons they can hunt for the opposing team and take them out of the game, anyone hit with the contents inside is out regardless of how is out. The team grabs as many balloons as much as each player can carry and they scatter across the island. The honk has honked signaling the teams that the game has begun!

Interactions:

Dave meets up with Sky offering to team up before Sky gets taken out by her own balloon contents. Sometime later Sky tasks Dave to warn the team about the sabotage.
Jasmine hunts on the ground with Shawn stalking her up in the trees.
Dave bumps into Shawn and they team up for a short time.
Max and Scarlett team up to sabotage the teams balloons. They eventually got taken out by the Shawn and Dave duo.
Rodney has a dangerous encounter with Sugar and a snake. Sometime later he meets up with Amy and Samey bickering towards each other. He clumsily tries to quote/unquote "break up with Amy" before getting taken out by Dave.
Ella runs into Sugar and Tags along with her despite Sugars disinterest. Eventually the two get taken out by Jasmine because Ella sang thus giving away their position.
Topher meets with Chris tells him to get a make up job because of the major concern for his image. Chris comes back to meet Topher suggesting moisturizer before Topher gets taken out by Dave. Chris seems to take Topher's suggestion into consideration.
Samey and Amy ambushed Dave, only Samey's balloon hit him.
Jasmine arrives to team up with the Twins to take Shawn. The trio arrived but argued over who should take the last shot the balloon popped and took them all out causing the Confused bears to win.

The Confused Bears won their first challenge and received a bucket of Lamb burgers. On the Floating Salmon side Samey gets an idea, she attempts to eat a the poisonous apple from the last episode before Amy steals it telling her that the team is going to unanimously vote her off, as she leaves and eats the apple Samey smiles rather evilly now that her plan is set. At the elimination ceremony everyone but Samey and Amy got a marshmallow of immunity the effect of the poison apple takes effect as Amy tries to say something but Samey shifts shrugs her off and claims that she's Samey Chris believes her and shoots Amy out of the cannon.

I would like to get my major problem out of the way first; that problem would be the the twins Samey and Amy or more so the lack of them in this episode. When I look at the title "Twinning Isn't Everything" you pretty much get the basic summary of the episode in your head even with out looking at the description of the episode, in my case you get the drama between the two sister. While we get that here it is not really focused on enough, instead the episode focuses on fleshing out the whole cast evenly like the previous episodes. The only time we get that specific focus was in the beginning and towards the climax, when it is there it is good but if an episode has a title that is focused on certain character(s) I think it is mandatory that you give more time dedicated to those certain character(s)or aspects whether it would be on screen or off screen and cut as little but of the stuff that don't really contribute much to those aspects. And there is a lot of stuff in this episode that don't really contribute to the dilemma of Samey and Amy. How does the rest of the episode play out? I think the rest of the episode is just okay: The character interactions are still great to watch in their respective directions, the episode has its fair share of funny moments when the time calls for it, it was fun see what surprises are in these balloons, and we get to see new sections of island. Also personal reasons for the somewhat satisfying elimination of Amy. Overall it could have been one of the greats  but it is held back by some problems
